MIKA was told by a producer that he should try to model his style after other popular artists. He was frustrated with this idea and penned "Grace Kelly" as a cheeky response, leaning into his own individuality and voice rather than listening to the so-called advice. Released as a single in 2007, this song ironically was the hit that took off and launched his singing career.
