Driving Defensively. Driving defensively is a valuable skill. It can save your life. Traffic accidents are the leading cause of accidental death in America. The definition of driving aggressively is driving like you’re in a race. Tailgating, speeding and passing unsafely are only a few signs of this. Driving passively is when one yields regardless of right of way and always obeys the traffic laws. This too can be unsafe and can put liability on the wrong person in cases where someone gets brake checked or run off the road. Driving recklessly is the worst driving behavior possible and is actually a criminal offense. At minimum drivers receive a misdemeanor and even a felony if there are injuries etc. You can see these drivers in high speed police pursuits and hit and runs. Driving defensively means trying to avoid accidents at all times. It also means protecting your liability. Protecting your liability can mean blowing your horn and staying in your lane if someone tries to push you over. Using a dashcam will protect your liability in case of an accident. Driving defensively means looking both ways when a light goes green. Keeping your doors locked. Throwing any distractions in the trunk. Keeping emotions in check. Pulling over a safe distance away from a road rage incident and waiting until traffic clears. Driving defensively means respecting the size and weight of trucks. Have you ever seen a car that was crushed between two trucks? Have you seen a car that was t-boned by a truck? Better to follow a truck if they are driving the speed limit. American trucks often EXCEED the speed limit, unlike their cabover European and massive Australian cousins. Can’t see around the truck? Leave more following distance! Pass safely. Comments? Rather than trying to figure out taxi systems in foreign places, I use ride sharing apps which are the same all over the country and in most foreign countries. Payments are made through the app BEFORE I confirm the pick-up so no surprises. Use this link for $5 Lyft ride credit! https://www.lyft.com/i/FISHER72007?ut....
