Bato Sa Buhangin by Ernani Cuenco & Snaffu Rigor | Song Covered by Kenzie G.

One of my favorite Kundiman pieces :) This song was first heard from the Filipino band, called “Cinderella” in the 1970s then it was used as the official soundtrack for a film titled “Bato sa Buhangin” in the year 1976. Depicting the themes of heartbreak, marriage, death, and endless love, ‘Bato sa Buhangin” is a metaphor in two ways. It says, “If affection fades, is it worth our while to cast or throw (bato) our luck on the shifting sand of time?” The sand symbolizing the passage of time, impermanence & possibility. Then it mentions, “that we may be able to catch the stone (bato)” we took the chance/risk to throw; the chance we took at love. Continually asking about the infirmity of love, but hoping that lovers will meet again in heaven, where their love can truly flourish. That their love finally becomes timeless and eternal, free of all pain. Disclaimer: The instrumental or background music used for this song cover is not mine. #oldsoul #loveclassicalsongs
