In today’s Gospel, the Lord tells his disciples, “I have come to set the earth on fire and how I wish it were already blazing. Do you think that I have come to established peace on this earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.” This warning is aimed at teaching us that choosing God’s kingdom will never be easy. We will have to change our ways, and along the way we will meet contradictions and conflicts. Should we be discouraged? Never, because Jesus himself faced opposition but endured them in the hope of one day sharing God’s glory.
