Johann Sebastian Bach I Cello I Prelude G I BWV 1007 | Interpretation B

Johann Sebastian Bach said about music: “The aim and final end of all music, should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.” By playing music by Bach, I have come to the realization since I went searching for the reason and purpose of me and the existence of the universe, that Bach’s music might be the most convincing answer. The sources behind my endless inspiration recording these divine excerpts with music by J. S. Bach, are those of my beloved and dearly missed grandfather who was a musician, Vladimir Issaivich Novak, my first and former cello pedagogue and the finest Scandinavian cellist of the 20th century, Erling Bløndal Bengtsson, and the hundreds of outstanding cellists worldwide who awaken my enthusiasm and all are my true heroes. Erling Bløndal Bengtsson's recording performed on a modern cello with such brilliant silvery tone and above and beyond musical phrasing and control, always will mean to me, exactly what Johann Sebastian Bach meant to say when he wrote the music in the first place. I glorify two of my most favorite musicians, artists and pedagogues, Novak and Bengtsson. They showered me with their intellectual generosity, unconditionally. They taught me nothing about music-competition, politics and monetary gains, but steered me into the depths of musical storytelling. The endless unraveling secrets of profound beauty, sheet music full of notes and rests, always equally epochal and paramount.
