Basically everything happens with the Nogitsune except Stiles is always trapped inside his body with the fox and Derek is more involved in trying to defeat it. However, no matter how close Derek gets to killing it, his fear of killing the real Stiles stops him. Then, Stiles comes to him in a dream and tells him that no matter how strongly he feels for him, he has to push aside his feelings and try harder to kill him. This encourages Derek to fight harder against the evil spirit. Finally, Derek traps Nogitsune!Stiles in the school and with the help of Scott, kills it. Weeks later, Derek, who believes that the real Stiles is dead too, feels drawn to the Nemeton. When he arrives, there's nothing there. Until, from the trees, he hears a familiar voice call his name.
