The Sinfonia No. 15 in B minor by Bach (BWV 801) is one of the least rigorous in its three-part writing. In keeping with many of Bach’s sets, the finale of the 15 (although it was not originally planned as such) is a lighter scherzo-like movement. Here a gigue rhythm is punctuated with explosive bursts of demisemiquavers which become increasingly long, intricate and virtuostic as the piece proceeds. All in all, a fitting lightweight and fiery end to the set of 15 Sinfonias. Hope you enjoyed these new renditions of Aufrichtige Anleitung (Inventions and Sinfonias) for the set’s 300th anniversary year 2023 played on Nikolaus Damm JN Bach harpsichord, Roland C-200 Classic Organ and here the legendary Roland C-30 digital harpsichord. I enjoyed learning them for my small but growing audience. Let me know in the comments what you would like to see me record next year!
