Pedro's Dowry (Frank Zappa) - The Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ádám Fischer

Recorded at the Millenáris Theatre, Budapest, Hungary, during the Budapest Autumn Festival on October 13, 2007 David Ocker, Frank Zappa's copyist and original Synclavier assistant & programmer (1977-1984): "Pedro's Dowry is the most difficult of the four (*) - both to play and to understand. I was very impressed with the way Adam Fischer brought out the connections between themes and enhanced the lyrical qualities. These things often get lost when the notes are so hard." (*) The program was four pieces: Envelopes, Pedro's Dowry, Bogus Pomp and Strictly Genteel. (the three others are also available on this channel) Illustration: Pedro's Dowry, bars 117-118 as presented in the Martin Herraiz study on Frank Zappa's orchestral music (the meter is 4/4) [Source: (reduced) original score] The instrumentation is indicated in Portuguese. Fgs. (fagotas) stands for bassoons, the terms for the other instruments are similar to English. The Black Page - The Zappa Page   / zblackpage
