John Heward Artist's Talk Part 4

Part four of an artist's talk featuring artist John Heward and critic Roald Nasgaard at MOCCA on November 2009, on the occassion of the exhibition "John Heward: A Trajectory / A Collection". John Heward was born in Montreal in 1934. He is involved in visual and aural art as a painter, sculpture and musician, and has exhibited in Canada, the U.S.A., Europe and China. "John Heward: A Trajectory / A Collection", currently on view at MOCCA, is the first solo exhibition of a retrospective nature devoted to him by a museum outside of the province of Québec. Roald Nasgaard is one Canadas foremost scholars and historians of modern and contemporary Canadian art. His distinguished career in the arts includes fifteen years as Chief Curator at the Art Gallery of Ontario, as well as authoring the critically acclaimed Abstract Painting in Canada, the first comprehensive publication of its kind. Most recently he curated the landmark exhibition The Automatiste Revolution: Montreal 1941-1960, which is currently on view at the Varley Art Gallery of Markham until February, and will travel to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, in Buffalo, New York, in March 2010.
