Join us on a walk we have been hoping to do for some time however the weather always seems to have other ideas, Dinas Head or Island as it is also referred to in numerous publications is a relatively short circular walk (we covered 3.5 miles) We start in the FREE Car Park located along the beach at Pwllgwaelod and conduct the route in a Clockwise direction, the first mile or so is up some steep coast path however with the views you dont really have time to dwell on the legs or lungs as you make your way along possibly some of the most picturesque cliffs i have seen for quite sometime (Dont be fooled by the grassy slopes these are extremely steep with some huge drop offs) Children would be fine on the entire walk providing they stay on the path. The highest point of the entire walk is marked by a pretty obvious Trig Point at 140m above sea level this point is called "Pen Y Fan" however dont get it confused with the Highest Mountain is South Wales that goes by the same name, following the route away from the trig point it provides some outstanding views across the Newport Bay and you will sonn pass a small rock named "needle rock" Im unsure as to the origin of its name as it does not resemble a needle to me but this rock is plastered in Sea Birds majority being Guillemots. You will soon find yourself entering the stunningly beautiful Cwm Yr Eglwys and its pretty famous Church...... which was taken by a huge storm back in 1859 minus the Western Wall and Bell tower - Unfortunately it was extremely busy at the time we arrived with numerous families enjoying picnics within the grounds of what remains of the Cemetary.... There is a footpath back through the Cwm Dewi Valley that takes you from Cwm yr Eglwys back to Pwllgwaelod I forgot to close this video out as per my usual uploads as I was quite excited about Tressa holding A freshly poured IPA from the pub located at the finish in Pwllgwaelod Nike Pegasus Trail shoes - https://amzn.to/3eW4Evv Montane Prism Jacket - https://amzn.to/33ba68r Osprey Skarab 30 - https://amzn.to/2Rqtf3f Osprey 2.5 litre Hydration bladder - https://amzn.to/3tgiSfT Go pro Hero 8 - https://amzn.to/33egVGc DJI Mini 2 - https://amzn.to/3uiuOix Mini 2 ND filters - https://amzn.to/33eD86U Garmin 735XT - https://amzn.to/3b7a71q
