Catiline's Speech to the Conspirators

I recite Sallust's version of Catiline's infamous speech. In 63 BC Catiline gave a speech to his supposed co-conspirators against Cicero, the Roman Senate, & against Rome itself. The proscriptions of the dictator Sulla had left many aristocratic & noble son's without a path for political advancement in Rome. Catiline spent his time cultivating & recruiting those affected to his cause, to hold the office of Consul. This made him a political enemy of his political opponent for the office, Cicero. Catiline gained relevance by befriending & appealing to actors, plebs, & gladiators. but this mass appeal gave Cicero a means to Catline's exile & eventual death. But was this speech really the spark that started it all?
