Cervical hydrops or Cervical fluid, ultrasound and color Doppler

Cervical Stenosis as a Cause of Cervical Hydrops: Cervical stenosis refers to the narrowing of the cervical canal, often caused by scarring from previous surgeries, radiation therapy, or congenital factors. In cases of cervical stenosis, the normal flow of cervical mucus may be obstructed, leading to the accumulation of fluid within the cervical canal. This fluid buildup can result in cervical hydrops, where the cervical canal becomes distended due to the trapped fluid. On ultrasound imaging, this appears as an enlarged cervical canal filled with fluid, resembling the characteristic appearance of cervical hydrops. Other Causes of Cervical Hydrops: 1. Cervical Ectropion (Cervical Erosion): This is a condition where the cells lining the cervical canal extend onto the outer surface of the cervix. It can result in increased mucus production and contribute to cervical hydrops. 2. Müllerian Anomalies: Congenital abnormalities of the reproductive tract can lead to fluid accumulation within the cervix or uterus, causing hydrops. 3. Infections: Chronic cervicitis or other infections can trigger inflammation and increased mucus production, potentially leading to cervical hydrops. 4. Trauma or Surgery: Procedures like cone biopsy or other cervical surgeries can cause scarring and obstruction, leading to fluid accumulation and hydrops. 5. Cervical Polyps: Overgrowth of cervical tissue can cause fluid retention, contributing to cervical hydrops. 6. Miscarriage or Pregnancy Complications: Retained products of conception or abnormalities in early pregnancy can lead to fluid buildup within the cervical canal. 7. Cervical Carcinoma: Advanced cervical cancer can obstruct the cervical canal and result in fluid . For more information visit: https://www.ultrasound-images.com/ute...
