Recovery crews used a massive crane Monday morning to lift wreckage from the Potomac River, days after a tragic midair collision between a plane and a helicopter left dozens dead. Authorities have now identified 55 of the 67 victims, as efforts continue to locate remaining American Airlines passengers. All crew members from the U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter have been identified and located. Officials said the crane, previously used in the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore, will be critical in cutting and lifting sections of the aircraft to allow crews to safely recover any additional remains. Divers are still searching for the bodies of 12 victims, according to D.C. Fire and EMS Chief John Donnelly. D.C. officials said they plan to hold a news conference at 4 p.m. Monday. Crews have been working along the river, where debris continues to be carried downstream. Officials urge the public to report anything they find along the shoreline and to not touch it. https://katu.com/news/nation-world/cr... _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: KATU on Facebook: / katunews KATU on Twitter: / katunews Subscribe to KATU on YouTube: / @katunews Daily News Playlist: • KATU Daily News Playlist For more information, visit https://katu.com/ Have a news tip?
