Marines perform night ops as Typhoon Haiyan relief effort continues

Now in week three, Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts continue in the Philippines. Late last week, the amphibious ships USS Ashland and USS Germantown arrive on scene and replaced USS George Washington, which had been operating in the area since Nov. 14. Both Ashland and Germantown are dock landing ships, and they carry landing craft capable of moving large amounts of cargo and equipment ashore.
