Metal Gear Rising: Revengance S Rank No Upgrade Run+ R-01

Revengance Difficulty No Upgrades (No buying Wigs, Unique Weapons, Skills and Life/Fuel Cells) No Life Cell pickups from blue chests No Sub Weapons (Rockets,Grenades, etc.) S Rank all fights (I will note which are ranked and unranked) I will do optional fights that I know of for fun trying not to skip any fights but it is not part of my ruleset. Enemy Guide: Cyborg - Blade mode or parry (I prefer sliding blade mode most of the time) Mastiff - Easiest way is to parry their wall jump attack or their running drop kick attack Gekko - Make them charge then block and complete qte which stuns them then if you have fuel you can do the instakill. You can also dodge their stomp attack and do the qte to make their top insta blue so you can blade mode for the kill. Ninjas - Running slidekick to force their block into blade mode to break their guard which stuns them. Then gain fuel off of them and go for the instakill. Parry battle also works but mostly only in 1 on 1 scenarios as you can be interrupted by others. Sliders - for both variance with cyborgs and without you just jump do 1-2 squares to align yourself then go for blademode. If they are without cyborgs you only have 1-2 slices to hit the zandatsu. You can also just keep doing jump squares as it stunlocks them. Hammerhead - Stay close and keep jump slicing into triangle. You can parry their charge attack for an instakill. If there is multiple they can friendly fire with their rockets to get rid of one. Grad - Stay close and aggressive as it forces him to do more melee attacks. If he does his missile barrage you have to move around to avoid them as they can hit near him. If he does his homing rockets you can slice them with running square but you need to be careful not to hit grad as he will deflect you attack causing the rockets to hit you. You can also slice them with blade mode but risky thanks to grad shooting. I just run around and try to get behind grad so he explodes them but they are slightly faster than Raiden but they have terrible sideways tracking so I use slide to try and get around them. If you are close 99% of the time the rockets should not home onto you especially if you are behind him as they hit the ground trying to get to you. Chapter Specific 3:46 You can do what I did and just run to the end and activate the console to leave. 5:43 For Blade Wolf I just parry his spin attack as it has a leniant timing and is the only attack where he can not dodge the parry. His other attacks can be parried but he will jump to the side to avoid it unless he gets stopped by a wall. For his back up you can just blade mode the cyborgs and force Gekko to charge and go for the instakill. 9:26 This Hammerhead specifically does not charge at you as in my attempts he never charged me once. This means the strategy becomes to just run at him and do some jump attacks. When you do not have the walkways anymore you have to use the corner pillars to damage the Hammerhead. The strategy here is to bait the Hammerhead to shoot his missiles first then try to get up and attack him as he is less likely to move in my experience. If you go directly beneath the Hammerhead he will always reposition. 13:50 - 15:20 There is a checkpoint after you unlock the gate after getting the left arm so there are 2 options here you either get left arm do the optional battle and checkpoint so you do not need to do it again or you get left arm and activate checkpoint them do the optional fight and the 15:20 fight. I forgot about the optional fight until after getting the left arm but the first way is recommended. The optional fight itself is quite easy as you just keep instakilling the sliders going for the zandatsu. 17:07 - 19:12 If you do this optional fight and fail or restart from checkpoint you will have to redo the 17:07 fight.
