-------------------- FAQ -------------------- Q: Which Platform are you playing on? A: PC (Steam) Q: How are you level 1? A: EXP Zero is an ability you receive at the beginning of the game on critical. One simply leaves that on for the entire game. Q: Is this video edited? A: Yes, I've edited the video to include the ability/stats screen at the end. Additionally any fights with checkpoints that I don't clear in one segment I'll edit the successful segments together. -------------------- Notes -------------------- It always seems like the run I clear the boss on is the sloppy one for the video... The ironic thing is that this wasn't even a serious attempt at the beginning. I was just planning on practicing the air combo that allows you to consistently get a dive attack. So I was playing a bit more loose instead of looping him in the first 2 phases and I took some unnecessary hits. I did not enjoy this fight, I would actually rank this as worse than Sköll for one reason only... Just how boring it was. At level one at this point in the game without the DLC Power Weights you're basically guaranteed to be under the damage floor (if you don't use any boosts). And with his massive health bar and sometimes long and drawn out attacks, it's a 10+ minute fight. Seriously I think the thing that made this difficult for me wasn't the boss himself, mechanically he's pretty simple. It was my impatience and sometimes just drifting attention in his first 2 phases. -------------------- Guide -------------------- I used the Second Chance, and WIthstand Combo Star Medals for this. I also used the Wisdom Ring and Grand Chef keyblade for the Wizard's Ruse ability that allows you to have a chance at regaining health when using offensive magic. I just couldn't take losing to this guy in the last phase after nearly 10 minutes of monotony anymore so I went full crutch mode. I'm not really going to go into too much depth here. His only challenging phase is his last phase so I'll add some insights there. Phase 1: Loop him. When he hits his Revenge Value he will guard stance. One attack into a block allows you to reprise his unblockable attack. He will always leap away and be open to an air step. Phase 2: I found the reprisal timing after his guard stance to be finicky so I decided to just hit his revenge value and he'll always do one of 3 things. 1. His orb attack, which is very easy to deal with all of them can be blocked. 2. He'll do his wide AOE swipe. If he does this immediately after his guard stance then he's very open afterward. 3. He'll leap away, and can be Air stepped to. If you manage to catch him fast enough and get him into a combo before he hits the ground he'll repeat this attack after his next RV. You can use this to loop him as well. Phase 3: Oh boy this phase is why this fight which would otherwise have taken me maybe an hour to clear made this one take upwards of 6 or 7. Firstly because it takes 6-7 minutes just to get here, and it takes a lot of practice to see the pattern in the chaos. His most dangerous attack is his orbs. If it's the first attack in his chain he will always chain into either an AOE swipe or his 2 slack attack. He tends to chain into his swipe if you're reasonably close, and his swipe if you're further away. You're going to have to learn how to deal with both. You need to get a Double Flight off to consistently dodge the orbs in the air. This takes practice, so I'd suggest practicing this without PRO codes on to get it down. The rest of the fight is pretty easy to deal with. He has some mixups to his attack combos. But compared to the orb attack I felt they were all pretty easy to anticipate and react to. One thing to note is that the reprisal timing on his dash attack is very tight if it's the first attack in the chain. It's much easier to hit if it's the last attack in a chain. If you go for the reprisal and miss it, you can mash into block and be safe you'll just have to dodge his unblockable follow up. If you don't land the reprisal and successfuly dodge his last attack he'll often go into his AOE swipe and be very open afterward. -------------------- Timestamps -------------------- Dark Inferno: 00:00 Phase 2: 03:03 Phase 3: 06:14 Setup: 11:02
