2000 High School Football: Class 'AA' State Semifinal - BOYLE CO. vs. PRESTONSBURG
PRESTONSBURG, (Ky) - November 24, 2000: The final game 'The Pit' was the pits for Prestonsburg as the Boyle County Rebels win their 29th consecutive game advancing to the Class AA state finals beating the Blackcats 56-8. Boyle County opened a 28-0 in the first half before Matt Slone cashed in for Prestonsburg's only score of the night in the second quarter. After starting the year 1-3, Prestonsburg became something of a Cinderella story blasting Middlesboro 30-7 and then upsetting Breathitt County 22-6 in the region final. Breathitt County had won nine in a row. This was a precursor of things to come for Prestonsburg as the Blackcats would go to the 2001 Class AA state finals.
