4-27-2012 Cab on tractor trailer explodes, burns

JASPER COUNTY - Jasper County firefighters and law enforcement officers are responding to what witnesses are describing as a massive explosion and fire that has engulfed the cab of a tractor trailer on Highway 96 south of Buna.Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman tells KFDM News the driver got out before the explosion and there are no reports of injuries.Newman says the gas tank on the tractor trailer exploded shortly after 8 a.m. Friday. The driver had parked the rig between the inside northbound lane of Highway 96 and the grass, south of Buna.Newman told KFDM his deputies have shut down the highway while firefighters put out the flames.
