The upward run used in this video is actually from a 1989 demo take, not the actual studio take. However, since there's an obvious break (sign of editing) in the sustained C5 of the official version of this song, I think Mariah might have originally sang the run up to either an F5 or a G5, but ultimately scrapped it in favor a downward riff.
