Cavern of the Metal Cap also known as just Metal Cap is actually quite a technical star and when watching it may seem easy but there are various small things you can do to make this star just a little bit easier. The first thing is not touching the camera when entering the stage and go for a longjump with distance you will know you did it right if you end up killing the snufit on your longjump I head straight forward for the dive but make sure to rub up against the wall just a bit and hit c-right and be as close to the corner as possible when turning. There is a small downward slope right after this turn that I aim to touch before longjumping across from here you want to make sure to keep any wall touches you might do to a minimum since you're going to need all the speed you can preserve. You can either go for double dives or a single longjump to the metal cap switch and honestly both are pretty good choices but I will sometimes switch depending on positioning when you fall down to the 5th red you can be pretty close to the wall and not ledgegrab which is a benefit of the metal cap and basically the movement to the star is just keeping close to the center pillar where the switch is as getting sharper and closer turns might be the difference between making the cycle and missing it.
