Daily Mass Readings Reflection November 19, 2025

DAILY ROMAN CATHOLIC READINGS AND SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS Wednesday, 19th November 2025 ------------------------------------------------ WEDNESDAY, THIRTY THIRD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME 2 Mc 7: 1, 20-31 Ps 17:1,5-6,8,15 Lk 19: 11-28 ------------------------------------------------ RIGHT ACCOUNTING; RIGHT REWARD As we approach the end of this liturgical year, the readings of these days also remind us about end of our life and giving the right account of our lives to God. God has given us this beautiful life and blessed us with different talents and gifts. Surely as a just judge He wants to know what we have done or how did we use those talents and gifts he gratuitously blessed us with. It is His right to ask the account and it is our duty to present that account. Today’s gospel is a beautiful example of what happens after our death or how the account will be demanded of us. What we see in the Gospel is a master, before going on a journey to be appointed as a king, giving ten pounds each to ten of his servants. And on his return after some days, he called them and asked for an account. The first two managed to multiply into ten and into five respectively so the master congratulated them and rewarded them. But the third just returned it as it is. But the master was angry for not using it rightly and punished him. God blesses us with so many things in our lives according to our capacity. But how do we use them. First of all, do we recognize them, are we grateful to God, or are we so selfish like that last one, not using them for the good of others? There is right reward for the right accounting of everything God provides us in our day to day lives. In the first reading we see how the seven Maccabean brothers courageously endured the suffering which was inflicted on them since they refused to eat swain’s flesh which was forbidden according to their law. They were faithful to the law and the traditions of their forefathers. They were ready to die rather than defying the law. What a noble example for us on the right accounting of the life’s opportunity. Let us live sincerely and be ready to provide the right account at the end of our lives. Response: When I awake, O Lord, I shall be filled with the vision of your presence.
