The case was lodged after HPC failed to pay a party a sum of 98 lakh rupees. When shut down, the mill had upwards of 200 crore worth finished paper ready to be dispatched, upwards of 30 crore worth of raw materials and many more assets. But the payment was not made. The NCLT ordered liquidation of the assets. Result - thousands of employees who were enjoying a life of dignity were left in lurch. Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal promised to revive the mill in presence of H.E. Ramnath Kovind, the president of India.
