We Were Going Tampa Bay Grouper Fishing But then...
We were going Tampa Bay grouper fishing but then this happened, can you guess? Well, the day started off pretty rough, we get out to the flat to catch greenbacks, and as I am idling I hearing some concerning rattling from what sounds like the lower unit. However, a few months ago I noticed the anode had come loose and lodged between the lower unit and the prop. Thankfully it didn't damage anything and the motor shut down immediately. Sure enough, after further inspection we see that the anode is loose, luckily it has caused no issues so after thirty minutes of unscrewing it with split ring pliers were able to go and look for bait. We had got a late start and the tide was low so bait was much more difficult to find on this afternoon. We caught enough bait to do the job and headed to the hole. The tide was right, we were in the major and the stars aligned and then the dreadful sound of the porpoise blowing air. We moved repeatedly and the dolphins harassed us for what seemed like hours. We finally got a small window to fish and I caught a couple grouper and we got broke off by some grouper but then here come the dolphins again. We moved many more times and finally got another little window to fish, this time I figured I would try for some Tampa Bay snapper and sure enough they were there and feeding even with the menacing dolphins not too far off in the distance. The dolphins popped back up and we called it a day.
