As the Roland TR-8S plays a steady 4/4 Beat at about 2 minutes the moog Subharmonicon takes over through some changing of one of its Rhythm generators in a manner that changes the whole track to a 3/4th beat, which I think can work great in Dance-music, although rather seldomly used. The Dreadbox Typhon is a very versatile, but nevertheless easy to use, "hands on" synth with a gorgeous sequencer and very usable in-built effects. It plays a sequence of 12 Notes enhancing the polyrhytmic feel of the track. I made extensive use of its delay effect by changing the left and right channel delay times thoughout the session - furhtermore adding to the polyrhythmic character of the track. I will never sell this synth. The great little Arturia Microfreak, probably the best synth "bang for buck" ever, shines here with a lot of lfo and cutoff modulation of the filter as well as use of its aftertouch; there were probably even more things involved I didn`t even notice. The Microfreaks keyboard is definitely unique. I´m happy to have hit almost all notes correctly. The Behringer Crave brings some percussive hihat-like sounds with its rather brownish noise triggered through its internal sequencer. I played around with attack, decay and cutoff throughout the session. Tr-8S adds some extensive swing contributing to wild chaos throught the track at about 7:30. Eowave Quadrantid Swarm plays a ratcher rhythmic tom-like sequence using only its percussive Oscillator. This livesession was slightly enhanced and mixed in post-production. I would say 95% live, 5 % Post. Just like the other tracks, I would never be able to recreate this. I have great respect for musicians that produce tracks which they can recreate in a live scenario somewhere other than in a studio, without just using the recorded samples and playing them like one would in a DJ-set. Its good practice to have a camera (or more than one) recording while performing a piece of music, because it forces you to make the most out of the moment. Compare that to sitting in front of a daw and having endless oportunities and plenty of time, which obviously is respectable on its own and has lots of benefits but is a completely different approach. The music I create this way is very different to my "in the box"- projects.
