Join me on this journey and take a look at the history of the grandest stage of them all. Today, we look at the show where Wrestlemania was finally ALL GROWN UP, Wrestlemania 23. Date: April 1st 2007 Arena: Ford Field in Detroit Michigan Attendance: 80,103 Commentary: Joey Styles & Tazz, Jim Ross, Jerry The King Lawler, Michael Cole, & JBL. Ring Announcer: Lillian Garcia & Howard Finkel. Interviewer: Jonathan Coachman, Josh Mathews, and Todd Grisham Money in the Bank Ladder Match #3: Jeff Hardy vs. King Booker vs. Finlay vs. CM Punk vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Matt Hardy vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge Winner: Your WINNER and NEW Mr. MITB, Mr. Kennedy! Rating: Amazing! (A-) The Great Khali vs. Kane Winner: Great Khali. Rating: Underwhelming. (D+) We had a fun comedy dance segment with Cryme Time, Eugene, Extreme Expose Dances (Layla, Kelly Kelly, and Brooke Adams), and a pack of legends: Fabulous Moolah, Mae Young, Slick, Dusty Rhodes, Jimmy Hart, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, and Ron Simmon getting a “DAMN!” moment. WWE United States Championship Chris Benoit © vs. MVP aka Montel Vontavious Porter Winner: Chris Benoit. Rating: Solid! (B-) Wrestlemania Streak Match #15 WWE World Heavyweight Championship Undertaker vs. Batista Winner: Your Winner & NEW World Heavyweight Champion! Undertaker! Rating: Amazing! (A-) Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Sandman & Sabu vs. Elijah Burke, Matt Striker, Marcus Cor Von, & Kevin Thorn w/ Ariel Winner: Team ECW. Rating: Average. (C) Battle of the Billionaires Special Guest Referee: Stone Cold Steve Austin Bobby Lashley w/ Donald Trump vs. Umaga w/ Vince McMahon & Armado Alejandro Estrada Winner: Bobby Lashley Rating: Decent. (C+) WWE Women’s Championship Melina © vs. Ashley Massaro Winner: Melina wins in 3 minutes. Rating: Underwhelming. (D+) WWE Championship John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels Winner: John Cena. Rating: GREAT! (B+) Overall show grade: Solid show! (B-) An overall fun, productive, and effective show. It may have one or two dips in matches or segments, but overall it did not harm the enjoyment of the show.
