The Evolution of GFRIEND (여자친구), Acapella Cover (A tribute)

Update 5/17/21: I never thought that I would never be able to update this medley again... I hope that the members will be able to find a new place for themselves. As a person who was never that into kpop, Gfriend has given me a new appreciation for the genre in the past 2 years that I was a Buddy (which was unfortunately too short), and I will support them in the next chapter of their careers, wherever that is. #ThankYouGFRIEND #여자친구사랑해 Hi everyone, this is my acapella medley of Gfriend’s title tracks in memory of their 6th anniversary! My first cover entirely using my new mic! I’m so glad with how it turned out (the sound quality was such a big step up compared to my Dreamcatcher one). I started doing this cover around mid-November (after my AYA cover) and I was so scared that I would not be able to make it in time, and considering that I was still recording five days prior to the video release the schedule was really tight. But I made it :) With this medley, I really want to thank Gfriend for all they have done these past six years, although I only started stanning in like late 2019 around the release of Fallin Light. They were the first group that I actually stanned. As for how I discovered Gfriend with absolutely no knowledge of kpop, it was when I decided to watch the Korean Produce 101 after watching the Chinese one (the show being insanely popular in China). After seeing the trainees’ cover of Me Gustas Tu, I was curious about what the original sounded like so I gave Me Gustas Tu a listen and omg I fell in love. I will be honest: I may be a kpop cover channel, but the majority of the kpop genre isn’t really my jam (I’m not the biggest fan of EDM, which is in a lot of kpop songs haha). Gfriend’s electric guitar/string based instrumental is such a breath of fresh air for me, and I’m so glad that I discovered them (leading me to discover Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher, the two other groups I follow). This kind of explains why this medley unintentionally ended up being 10 minutes long (I couldn't bear to cut anything because all their songs are so good!). Another thing in common between all 3 of the groups I stan is that the artists make me feel the emotion within the songs they sing and that their songs are not just designed to be catchy. Although Gfriend are not my ults at the moment, I can say with confidence that Gfriend is the group that makes me feel the emotion the most, and I really respect that.
