The story kicks off with a young man named Sing (Stephen Chow), who dreams of becoming a feared gangster. Sing lives in the slums of Shanghai, in a tenement building called Pig Sty Alley. He's a small - time crook, always trying to make a quick buck by scamming people or working for the local gang, the Axe Gang. Sing's days are filled with failed attempts at looking tough, and he often gets himself into trouble. 😅 He hangs out with his friend Bone (Lam Tze - chung), and together, they try to imitate the Axe Gang, hoping to one day gain the respect and power that comes with being part of the notorious group. Sing believes that being a gangster is the only way to escape his miserable life in the slums, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to rise to the top. 💰 The Clash with Pig Sty Alley's Residents 🥊🏚️ One fateful day, Sing and Bone decide to pull off a daring scam. They pretend to be members of the Axe Gang and try to extort money from the residents of Pig Sty Alley. Little do they know, the seemingly ordinary people living there are actually masters of various martial arts styles. 🤯 When Sing and Bone try to intimidate the residents, they quickly find themselves in over their heads. First, they run into the Landlady (Yuen Qiu) and her husband, the Landlord (Yuen Wah). The Landlady, also known as the "Landlady with the Lion's Roar," is a fearsome martial artist with a powerful voice that can shatter objects and send people flying. She's not one to be messed with, and she quickly teaches Sing and Bone a lesson. 😡 But the trouble doesn't stop there. As the commotion spreads, other martial arts masters in the alley reveal their true identities. There's the Tailor (Leung Siu - lung), a master of the Wing Chun style; the Cook (Chan Kwok - kwan), who wields deadly kitchen utensils as weapons; and many others. Each of them has their own unique fighting skills, and they're all ready to defend their home from the intruders. 🍳⚔️ Sing and Bone are beaten up and chased out of the alley, humiliated and embarrassed.
