Storm Information Reporter Emergency Network (SIREN)

The Storm Information Reporter Emergency Network (SIREN) is an Android application that will allow users to submit reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.  Until SIREN, the only methods for reporting severe weather was by calling the local NWS office or by sending a report to the office’s Facebook or Twitter pages.  SIREN was developed using feedback from the NWS office in Charleston, WV to determine the types of information that an app would need to gather from a reporter.  Currently, the app is undergoing field testing by the NWS-Charleston office and further development is planned.
