It allows you to drain your swamped cockpit on fellow paddlers kayak deck while you are in the water. This rescue is only suitable for kayaks wide enough to shimmy up the back. Water drains considerably faster when done using other person's kayak as shown in the video. *Make sure to try this in calm water before rough water if you practice.
