Pineapple Themed dinner|Discover 3 Delicious Ways to Enjoy Pineapple!

A couple days ago, I brought home two Shenwan pineapples from the office. Today I'm making a pineapple-themed dinner – pineapple fried rice, braised spare ribs with pineapple, and crushed pineapple yogurt! This is a Shenwan Pineapple. It comes from Shenwan Town in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. Look at it – nice and round, with super sweet, juicy, golden flesh. What's really cool about Shenwan is that pineapples grow everywhere – in front of houses, behind them, on flat land, even on the hillsides. But the best ones? They grow up on the hills. Take Yaji Mountain, for example. It's only about 300-400 meters high, but from the bottom right to the top? Covered in pineapples! It's their main growing spot. Don't be fooled by how common they seem – these pineapples are actually pretty delicate. They only give two harvests every three years, and each pineapple takes at least a year and a half to grow from planting to being ready to eat. To get that amazing taste, you need just the right slope, soil, water, and sunlight. Yaji Mountain's soil is rich in iron, and they water the pineapples with fresh mountain spring water piped down from the hills. That's the secret to why Shenwan pineapples are so incredibly sweet!
