Stage 1 Dawn of Nightmares Fifteen years have passed since the defeat of the Genma and the evil lord Nobunaga Oda. Hideyoshi Toyotomi, Nobunaga's former vassal, unites Japan and brings an end to the Sengoku Period. Still, the peace ends when the “Omen Star” appears in the sky: several natural disasters occur as Hideyoshi sends his armies to attack mainland Asia and the Genma resurface. Hideyoshi, like his master before him, uses the Genma to enforce his power while they gather “cherry trees” across Japan to Kyōto. Only Hideyoshi's illegitimate son, Hideyasu Yūki, refuses to follow his father and fights him under the name of Sōki.
