Describe your business North Guana Outpost (NGO) is an outfitter store specializing in equipment and clothing geared towards outsiders that enjoy water-related activities, thus our slogan “Outfitter for Outsiders”. NGO is uniquely located at the north end of the Guana River Wildlife Management Area. This WMA is part of the Guana Tolomato Matanza National Estuarine Research Reserve located between Jacksonville and St. Augustine, FL. NGO’s location at 4415 Mickler Rd. offers direct access to the Guana River, is a short walk to the beach at Mickler’s Landing, and is approximately two miles from the Intracoastal Waterway. This geographical threesome is only found in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and NGO is uniquely positioned to take advantage of these recreational opportunities. Where are you originally from? Gail Ingalls is a local who has lived here for over 30 years. WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER AT YOUR COMPANY? North Guana Outpost offers many special events such as a Tide Ride, Ladies Kayak Night Out, and a bi-annual Local Arts Market. They also offer Bioluminescent Tours, Kayak rentals, Fishing trips. Wednesday is 1/2 price kayak and paddleboard rentals! WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS? They are a family-run business that includes her daughter and son. Gail and Lauren are there 7 days a week. Gail's son offers fishing charters. What is something most people don't know about the business? That there are two locations! With two locations on the Guana Preserve, North Guana Outpost is the perfect outdoor adventure destination. NGO services include kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals and sales, guided eco-tours, SUP Yoga, fishing charters by kayak and paddleboard, and full moon paddles. Guana Outpost South located at the GTM Research Reserve offers rentals as well as bait, tackle, and gear to make the best of your adventure during your time at Guana. What would your customers say they love most about your business? Gail Ingalls and her daughter Lauren say that most people stop in to say hello to their dog, Tank! What kind of merchandise do you sell in your shop? Paddleboards (carbon fiber), fishing tackle and bait, paddleboard accessories, sunglasses, fishing kayak and paddleboards, local jewelry, Olukia sandals, bamboo clothing, and performance wear clothing. What are your goals over the next year? Gail hopes to find a business owner to lease on her property and open a restaurant that will overlook Guana Lake. They have big plans that are still in the works such as building a patio, a rooftop deck and possibly moving the shop back further on the lot.
