November 9, 2014: Remembrance Day Service @ Washington National Cathedral

SERVICE LEAFLET: http://cathedral.org/wp-content/uploa... Remembrance Sunday, often referred to as ‘Poppy Day,’ is recognized on the 11th of November each year in the United Kingdom and many Commonwealth nations. Hostilities on the Western Front ended when the Armistice was signed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month formally marking the end of World War One. Today the poppy is symbolic of the human sacrifice involved in all conflicts. This year marks the centenary since the start of hostilities from World War One and Washington National Cathedral commemorates this event by holding a unique Remembrance Sunday Service. Bishop Philip Poole, the area bishop for the York-Credit Valley Episcopal Area, which is the southwestern part of the Diocese of Toronto, is the guest preacher. The Cathedral Choir of Men and Girls sings.
