The 3029 is the representative of the fact that this is Boomer's double acting series spring hinge. 3 is the representative of the fact that the leaf is 3" but the really important fact is that the 3" is the range of the door that is suitable to work with and that would be from 3/4" to 1". The 601 part means is in a bright black japanned finish a common finish but is available in different finishes as well. There is a link below this video to the Template that shows everything important dimensionally about it. There is a link below this video to the Installations Instructions as well. Let's go over Template first. The most important question is "what is the net door width that i need to have based on using this hinge or how big should my frame opening should be. The width is really the important part that needs to be determined. From the Template upper right corner you going to see a single door drawing and a double door drawing. You know the door width and you know the margin from the Template that you need to undersize door and that would give you the frame opening or if you know the new opening width and you know your clearance from the chart below the drawing you can undetermined the frame opening. Let's say single door 36" frame, you've got 36" wide opening, you would take 36" you will deduct your A dimension and if this flange is surface mounted to the edge of the door you gonna undersize your door by 7/16" so your door it's gonna end being 36 9/16" wide. If you gonna mortise this to the edge of the door door width it's gonna be 36 5/8". The frame leaf is always gonna be surface mounted. A double door same idea. If you've got two doors and you gonna build an opening around these two doors take your two door width put them together, take your B dimension and then you gonna get your inside door opening so you can work in either direction to determine that. Moving on on the Instructions. The Instructions are gonna show where to locate the hinges. Where to locate the hinges is now gonna be directly based on how many hinges you working with so the table below this video says: Minimum Door Height: 5'0" Maximum Door Weight 2 Hinges: 35 lbs 3 Hinges: 39 lbs If you've got two hinges one is gonna go on the top and one on the bottom. If you go with three hinges one is gonna go on the top 3" from the top of your head and 2" below that will go the second hinge and the third one will go down on the bottom. Install it that way. The majority of work being done on the top of the door. If you are not sure if you should use two or three go with three because you gonna get a better control over your door. Setting the tension is very simple. You gonna get a tension rod you are going to get two tension pins and wood screws. Tension collars are here, insert your tension rod in one of your holes and rotate it clock wise per the direction that's on the barrel. As you do that you reveal new holes. You are setting the tension on that spring and then in one into these holes you insert a tension pin. You gonna do that one the frame side and on the door side. By all means follow the guide line and if you do you will have a great success. Available in several sizes and that's gonna be based on your door thickness. If you've got a thicker door than 3" you need a different hinge if you've got a thinner door reach out to us this hinge wont work, will be happy determine which hinge you will need.
