“In the Charter of the CPC (Communist Party of China), no articles stipulate the term of the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee or that of the chairman of CPC Central Military Commission, so some Party committees and comrades proposed that the limit on the terms of the president and vice president shall also be removed from the Constitution so that the stipulations on the terms of the highest leader of the Party, the highest leader of the military, and the highest leader of the country will be consistent. Practices have proven that such a system of leadership is successful and effective,” said Shen Chunyao, chairman of the Commission for Legislative Affairs of the 12th NPC Standing Committee, at a press conference about China’s constitutional amendment on Sunday.
