'The 208' is different from than newscasts you’re used to. KTVB relaunched from their traditional format to focus on making it a conversation with the viewer. Over the past couple of years, "The 208" with Brian Holmes quickly gained statewide attention for breaking down news stereotypes. We're not your typical talking-head newscast. Our mission on ‘The 208’ is to be smart, honest, and (sometimes) funny. We also want to give your news a little more context and perspective. The 30-minute show is packed with original local stories, the type Idaho residents want to watch and engage with. On this particular day, The 208 team covered several different topics that had people in Southern Idaho talking. In late August, as Idaho’s hospitals were approaching crisis standards of care, ivermectin paste for farm animals was flying off farm store shelves as people looked for a way to treat COVID-19. As that was happening, parents by the hundreds were lining up to opt their children out of wearing masks in the state’s largest school district. The team also went to a local gathering of the Boise Valley People, who were in town to celebrate and remember those who were the original inhabitants of the Boise Valley. We paid tribute to ‘Kohl the Tee Dog,’ Boise State’s beloved canine who died of cancer. Kohl was famous for fetching the tee after kickoffs at Boise State football games. And finally, Brian Holmes answered some nice, and some, well, not so nice viewer voicemails collected over the last few months.
