Former prime minister Kevin Rudd is being “pathetically disingenuous” when he claims Joe Biden didn’t lay out identity criteria when choosing his running mate, according to Sky News host Chris Kenny. Chief Editorial Cartoonist at The Australian Johannes Leak has defended his cartoon of Kamala Harris after he was accused of racism by some sections of the Australian media this week. “Now the usual deceptive, duplicitous and partisan types from the ABC and other green left media have been attacking Leak and News Corp for running the cartoon, pretending that rather than calling out the cynical exploitation of identity politics it was actually racist and sexist,” Mr Kenny said. “How pathetically disingenuous, leading the charge has been former Labor prime minister Kevin Rudd who continues to think he was a genius undone by News Corp, conveniently forgetting he lost the support of his own party room first, and then Australian voters. “He tweeted today, attacking me as well, saying I was wrong to say Joe Biden laid out identity criteria for his choice of running mate". Mr Kenny said the presumptive Democratic nominee explicitly said he would pick a female running mate and was put under “enormous pressure” from the Democratic Machine to pick a woman of colour. “This is the ugliness of identity politics,” Mr Kenny said. “And while we all understand Kevin Rudd's political frustrations and bitterness, he really shouldn't try to pretend otherwise.”
