So often when the public is faced with a case as horrendous as that of Chad Doerman, where the guilt of the defendant seems to be a foregone conclusion, many are left wondering why the State must go through the lengthy, difficult, and expensive process of litigating the case all the way through to legal system just as if the defendant hadn’t already confessed.
