Extreme Weather Acrylic Application Hacks

Ey Up, We filmed on the two hottest days in UK’s recorded history at 40C outside, lord knows how hot it was in the studio. So I’m going to show you how to sculpt a nail in this heat. We don’t have air conditioning so we’re relying on a fan, closed curtains and all the tiktok “keep your home cool” hacks to keep the studio (and your salon) as cool as possible but that’s not enough. So, I’m using tips today so the glue is going to be thinner and the thin glue and the heat of the clients hand is going to make the glue set really quick. If you work in the cold a lot, then get a thinner glue. With your primer, if it gets too cold, it will crystallise, so if you do get that, then pick up a heat pack or an electric mug warmer to pop your primer bottle on, or any product in the cold. Don’t take a lighter to your product though, a lot of nail products are flammable, stay safe. When I get to the acrylic, I’ll do my bead as normal but it sets up super quick because of the heat. If you work fast enough then this is fine, if you don’t work fast enough, then DO NOT pick up wetter beads, this will make your nail weaker. Instead, get an ice pack, wrap it in kitchen roll, or table paper and pop your monomer dish on top. Don’t put the monomer in the fridge, the ice pack will cool it down enough that the acrylic will set as normal. Filing is also a lot warmer in the heat, so check in with your client that it’s not too warm, and get yourself a neck fan, or a fan in general, to keep yourself cool.
