Hundreds of thousands of poor rural migrants, or "low-end population" as the authority put it, living in Beijing for decades are being forced to move, as authorities have declared their shelters are 'illegal structures' that must be torn down as part of their 40-day campaign. The campaign was launched after an apartment fire that killed 19 people in Daxing district.
