RAW: Fire Displaces Families in Kiryas Joel

KIRYAS JOEL - A fast-moving fire on Friday ripped through an apartment building and temple in Kiryas Joel. Flames broke out at 49 Satmar Drive around 11:30 a.m. Viewer video shows the fire quickly spreading through the building that contains several apartments and a synagogue. One of the first responders was able to rescue a Torah from inside the building. It was placed in a Kiryas Joel ambulance for safekeeping. Fire Chief Joshua Blumenthal says the community responded to help those living inside the building who were forced to flee. No one was injured. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
