Take moong dal and soak it in water for about 1 hour. 2. Drain off the water and transfer the soaked dal to a pressure cooker. 3. Pour enough water until the moon dal is fully immersed. Cover the cooker with the lid. 4. Place the weight, keep the flame on medium and cook the dal for 2 whistles. Keep it aside. 5. Take a pan and add ghee. Roast cashewnuts in it until they are golden brown in color and keep them aside. 6. Add raisins to the same pan and roast them until they are nicely plumped up. Keep them aside. 7. To the same pan, add some ghee and roast the freshly grated coconut for 5 mins on a low flame and keep it aside. 8. For the jaggery syrup, add water and jaggery to a saucepan and let the jaggery melt completely. Once done, turn off the stove, strain the jaggery and keep the syrup aside. 9. Take a large pot, pour the strained jaggery syrup and add the cooked dal. Mix well. 10. Add boiled and cooled milk and boil the milk for 5 mins. 11. After the bubbles are formed, add cardamom powder, roasted coconut, ghee, roasted cashewnuts and raisins. 12. Mix well and boil the payasam for 2 mins. 13. Yummy moong dal kheer is ready to be served hot and nice. Kheer is very much loved in India and it is a must have sweet for many special occasions or festivals.
