#AskDrBob: Vaping, Multiple Sclerosis, Blepharitis

Hi Everyone! These were the questions asked in this episode of #AskDrBob. If you have any general health questions, please email us, [email protected], and we will present it in an upcoming episode. Thank you! Q: Do you have any suggestions or recommendations on effective, safe treatment of blepharitis? My husband has a bad case of it. I came home w/it after the first or second follow-up app't after cataract surgery. That eye clinic basically dumped him immediately. It took several weeks and, at least 2 other eye Drs to get it diagnosed. None of the prescriptions for it have been very helpful. A: I would suggest the FIT test to see what foods your husband may be sensitive to. I know that may seem odd since it was a surgical procedure; what I have found those with weak immune systems can have more challenges if they are for example sensitive to eggs, or dairy. I can be any food which will add more distress. Q: For several months now I've suffered terrible sulfur burps, mainly shortly after eating lunch but starts to get more severe after evening meal. I am lactose and gluten intolerant, on medication for several health issues, one of which is a hiatal hernia. GP prescribed lansoprazole for the acid reflux which I take first thing in morning. I was recently prescribed antibiotics for another condition and that seemed to stop the burps but after 3-4 weeks they have returned. I wonder if instead of having too much acid if I may have low stomach acid? I am female and over 60. A: I would suggest a serum blood comprehensive panel. I would look at the globulin level to assess your need for digestive enzymes. It also can be a food combining issue. Q: Hi Dr. Bob. What do you advise for cataracts, and dry eyes, also maintaining eye health? Are there any good eye drops? A: I would read the Cataract Chapter in “Dr. Bob’s Guide to Prevent Surgery” Dry eyes often will respond to iodine Q: What do you take and do every day for your total body health? A: I do not eat sugar, no alcohol, no soda, minimal gluten. Q: I have been dealing with this pain for over 30 days. It comes and goes. I also have digestive issues. Burping, gas and heartburn. I wake up feeling full of gas and nauseous. The pain has disrupted my sleep, waking several times a night. I have had a CT scan with contrast of lower abdominal and a blood panel showing all is good. I’m in desperate need of direction. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. A: I would watch how you combine food; that is an example animal protein and starches are not a good mix. Also I would suggest a blood serum globulin level. It should be 2.7, any number above that would suggest a digestive aide need. You may consider a personal consultation. Q: I am a 61-year-old female that has been having sinus issues for decades. In the past I have been on antibiotics for several months at a time with very little relief. When the seasons changed is when it starts with drainage, coughing or spitting up a greenish yellowish mucus. Also, I live in the south and every spring/summer there is the pollen and once I go outside, etc. the headaches, pressure, drainage, and coughing starts. I am in the process of eliminating wheat, sugar, peanut butter, and dairy. A: I have noticed seasonal change allergies usually suggest an iodine need. Also, the foods you suggested you were stopping would be a good start. Q: Any advice on balancing candida? Naturally, and smoothly as possible? No fruit, or sugar and avoid bread. A: We use a citric seed extract product called Agrisept-L with success. And we have used a product called Caprin. Q: Diabetes 2 - what can I do to reverse it? There are a lot of variables with diabetes. A: I would suggest losing weight to start. We use a product called Glucobalance with success. We have a protocol based on the individual findings for the patient. It all depends on; liver, colon, nutrient need, level of obesity and other details. Q: What do you think about hair dye? A: I know that dyes have been around a long time; I would suggest one that is not harsh or damages the hair. Q: Is vaping really that bad, Dr. Bob? A: I would say yes vaping does not promote health and besides a lung issue the tool itself if not cleaned can lead to potential bacteria, virus and other microbiologic challenges. Q: What about raw honey? A: Any sweetener will place a demand on the pancreas and liver resulting in inflammation. Patients in our office who eat sweets or sweeteners always have the most pain. Q: What kind of oils helps MS? A: We have found the omega-3 oils are commonly deficient in patients with MS. ~ Thank you all for watching, to help you on your road to optimal health, you may consider a thirty-minute consultation with me.
