The 3 threats that can destroy Meta and Facebook (AI, Ads and VR)

I am looking at the 3 biggest threats Meta and Facebook are facing today. I have read through the quarterly report of Meta as well as listened to the earnings call from Q3 2022 where Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO, explains the major challenges in the coming years. 🧩 Background: 1. TikTok: TikTok is an obvious competitor to Facebook but that is not the full story. Facebook can easily copy any feature and app such as Snapchat via Instagram Stories and even the vertical video format of TikTok but it cannot copy the underlying tech. TikTok has exposed how bad Facebook's recommendation algorithm was since it was largely based on social connection. 2. Advertisement: Apple has become a major barrier to Meta since it blocks certain user data due to privacy concerns and even taxes advertisement revenue. Since Meta does not own a mobile platform, it has to comply but it is a dangerous precedent for the company. 3. Metaverse: Mark Zuckerberg is convinced that, if Facebook will be disrupted, it will be from the VR/AR space. This is a technology that he foresees will be a major industry in the future so he makes substantial investments in that space.
