ChatGPT Atlas - The AI Browser we never expected. Trying out all features of Atlas browser.

In this video, I test the new ChatGPT Atlas browser from OpenAI to see if it actually delivers what it promises. Atlas has been described as a next-generation AI browser that combines ChatGPT’s intelligence with built-in browsing, agentic actions, and contextual memory. It is currently available for macOS, and I’ve downloaded it to run a full test of its most talked-about features, Companion Mode, Historical Tabs, and Agent Mode. If you’ve been following AI browser developments like Perplexity’s Comet, you know that most of these tools make big claims about automation and intelligent web interactions. In this review, I check whether ChatGPT Atlas can summarize live websites accurately, remember previously opened tabs, and perform autonomous actions like searching for products or interacting with e-commerce sites. I test all three functions step by step and show you exactly where it succeeds and where it still struggles. The first test is about web content summarization. The second test is about memory and historical tabs. The third and most important test is Agent Mode. Overall, my verdict is that ChatGPT Atlas performs far better than Comet in usability, simplicity, and reliability. The interface looks exactly like the ChatGPT desktop app, but with a side-panel browser and memory layer built in. It’s clean, fast, and intuitive. Agent Mode works, Historical Tabs work, and website summarization is smooth. For everyday tasks, research, and product discovery, it’s a strong contender. However, the bigger marketing question remains, what happens to ad viewability and impression tracking when AI browsers summarize pages instead of letting users scroll? If these browsers gain adoption, marketers will need to shift their focus toward verified viewability metrics and creative formats that AI cannot skip.
