Although there are no guarantees in hockey, there is little doubt Tyler Benson is going to be a tremendous Jr. player moving forward. It's not only his unbelievable offensive instincts...i.e. his uncanny knack to find and dish the puck to teammates, make everybody on the ice better, his strong skating, his excellent shot and release, the way he uses his body to protect the puck and anticipation to know where it's going to be ahead of time, the one touch passes and soft hands, and the all-round skill set that can simply win games single-handedly. All that combined with his compete level, will to win, his heads up instincts to assess the defense, work along the boards, and smart defensive plays, make him one of the best 14-year-old's in North America. There is little arguing his stats, as he currently leads the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League in scoring with an outstanding 91 points in 19 games, which is 28 more than his nearest competitor. Last season, as a first year, the gifted forward finished second in the AMBHL in scoring with 84 points in 33 games.
