NewsChannel 9 is learning more about the driver of the 18-wheeler involved that deadly accident on I-75 last week. NewsChannel 9 has confirmed from court documents that Benjamin Brewer has had a warrant for his arrest in Rock County, Wisconsin for more than two years. Brewer was arrested by the Janesville Police in Rock County Wisconsin in 2013 for possession of prescription pills. Police say he was behind the wheel of the semi truck involved in the deadly I-75 crash. According to the Janesville police reports, when he was arrested two years ago, Brewer said he was attempting to fill out of state prescriptions in Wisconsin for back pain he was experiencing after a trucking accident. Court Documents show he never appeared for his court date his arrest warrant was issued on May 20th, 2013. Tuesday, NewsChannel 9 also found out more information about an accident police say he helped cause in Florida just a little more than 30 hours before the deadly wreck on Interstate 75. "The truck driven by Mr. Brewer was passing the Ford. They essentially sideswiped each other as they passed," Sgt. Steve Gaskins said. "Damages were minimal and able to be repaired at the scene." Brewer was cited with careless driving, but Sgt. Gaskins says troopers did not report anything abnormal about Brewer's behavior. "The trooper indicated no indication of drug use or alcohol at the time," he said. For that reason, troopers did not draw blood from Brewer for further testing like they did after the I-75 crash. National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Keith Holloway said on Monday that it is too early to say why Brewer failed to stop his truck on Thursday. Chattanooga Police have not charged Brewer with any crimes. This is a developing story. Depend on NewsChannel 9 for updates as we get them.
