Pak starts vaccine drive with unapproved Chinese Covid vaccine

Pakistan began its Covid-19 vaccine drive on Tuesday, with frontline health workers slated to receive the inoculations in the first phase. Meanwhile, China has given five lakh doses of unapproved vaccines to Pakistan without even conducting accurate tests. Beijing has donated about 5,00,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine- which has yet to be fully approved by China's health authorities. Pakistan expects one more million does by the end of the month. Pakistan had demanded 11 lakh doses of the vaccine and China had promised to give five lakh doses first and the rest later. Earlier, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had also confirmed that China had promised to deliver the vaccine.
