Waterspout spotted off Washington coast after 'bomb cyclone' wreaks havoc across region

A waterspout was spotted off the Washington coast Wednesday afternoon. The waterspout prompted the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning for Pacific County, and later for Grays Harbor County, Washington. The NWS in Portland shared a video of the waterspout as it approached North Cove, Washington, which is the area where the tornado warning was issued. A trained weather spotter confirmed the waterspout was close to making landfall. The warning lasted until about 5 p.m. when the threat of a tornado had passed. The waterspout came one day after a “bomb cyclone” ripped through western Washington. At least two people were killed as strong winds whipped through the region Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Hundreds of thousands of customers were still without power Wednesday and some were expected to be in the dark for "multiple days." Harborview Medical Center told KOMO News that Wednesday morning, at least five people were in the hospital with injuries related to the storm. One of those people was in critical condition. The storm has had a major impact on western Washington, causing significant power outages and blocking roads. A spokesperson for the city of Seattle told KOMO News Wednesday morning that 20 to 30 trees were down, and crews were “working to address any debris impacting roadways and transportation.” -------------------------------------------------- WEATHER COVERAGE: Waterspout spotted in Washington: https://komonews.com/news/local/torna...
