Three California Highway Patrol officers were injured when their patrol vehicle caught fire after a crash on the 105 freeway in Downey overnight. The crash on the 105 freeway near Lakewood Boulevard happened around 1.30am. "CHP had the lane closed with flares out, the driver applied no brakes and went straight into the CHP car, all four wheels off the ground," witness Robert Martinez said. One officer was standing outside the cruiser when it was struck suffered major injuries, but is expected to survive. Two officers in the vehicle, a man and woman, suffered moderate injuries. All three were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.
